After School Club Update!
This is my first 'Something of the Month' for A.S.C. on the theme of weather. My waterproof garment of the month is the charming gut skin parka - a lightweight coat made by the native peoples of the North American Arctic. It is made, as the name suggests, from the guts and intestines of animals such as seals and sea lions.
The culture of these natives is fascinating and diverse - they are incredibly resourceful, living in a sub-zero, almost inhospitable environment.
If you'd like to see a gut skin parka for yourself (I'm sure you would LOVE TO), there is one in the British Museum.
